Distance: 58km

Height gain: 137m

Coffee stop: Woodhall Spa (Kitchenetta/Archies)

Difficulty: Easy

Highlights: flat roads, quiet lanes, picturesque villages, great coffee, uncluttered views

Starting from the free carpark on Princess Street in Metheringham this route heads out of the village on quiet roads to Scopwick and on to Kirkby Green; Turning in Kirkby Green for Rowston and crossing the narrow footbridge to avoid the ford (do not ride through the ford), passing through Digby and down the long straight to Walcott where the route turns left to Thorpe Tilney and right down Thorpe Tilney Drove to the River Witham Bank where the route turns right and follows the river bank to Tattershall Bridge; the route then follows the A153 a short distance into Conningsby where a left and right opposite the School takes you onto Hunters Lane and then a left turn following the road to Kirkby on Bain; a left turn in this village opposite the Ebrington Arms pub takes you on Kirkby Lane to Woodhall Spa passing through the large woods before arriving at Coffee Nirvana! Woodhall Spa has an abundance of great coffee shops but the best coffee is def from either the ‘Kitchenetta’ or ‘Archies’ both on The Broadway through the village and both very cyclist friendly, (public toilets on Broadway opposite the Co-op).

The return route takes you out of Woodhall on the Witham Road towards Martin but takes you right shortly after crossing the bridge over the River Witham at Martin Dales and follows the quiet lane all the way to Martin Dales (not the first left turn to Martin) and back up Blankney Drove and across the old airfield to Metheringham.
